VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA TO INDIA

Delegation of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia, led by H.E. Dr Ana Pesikan, Minister of Science of the Republic of Serbia, visited India from 18-23 February 2008. During their two day stay in New Delhi, delegation had a meeting with Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology of India Shri Kapil Sibal, that was followed by meetings with representatives of several scientific insititutes, namely Indian National Science Academy, Institute for Genomics and Integrated Biology and International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. During three days visit to Bangalore, from 20 till 22 February, the delegation had a meeting with Governor of the State of Karnataka Shri Rameshwar Thakur and also visited four scientific institutes – Indian Institute of Science, Indian Space Research Organization, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing and Raman Research Institute.

The visit was opportunity for exchanging ideas about further enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology, as well as future joint cooperation within specific international programmes. During the visit, the Programme of Cooperation in Science and Technology between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Government of the Republic of India for the period 2008-2010 was initialed.
